*Bharat Bandh: An Unwarranted Move*
Today, certain political parties and labour unions have called for a Bharat Bandh (nationwide strike). However, this call for protest is entirely unnecessary and ill-conceived.
🖋️ Here are the reasons:
The Modi government has consistently pursued labour-friendly policies over the past eleven years.
The introduction of new Labour Codes has successfully balanced the interests of farmers, workers, and industrialists.
Through the e-Shram portal, millions of unorganised sector workers have been brought under a social security umbrella.
The PM Shram Yogi Maan-dhan Yojana has guaranteed pensions for lakhs of labourers.
The consolidation of labour laws is a historic reform.
Even during the pandemic, the government ensured jobs, food, and healthcare for workers.
The concept of "One Nation, One Registration" has been effectively implemented.
Programmes aimed at boosting workers’ incomes have been actively promoted.
The MSME sector has seen the creation of millions of new jobs.
Funding for social security schemes has been substantially increased.
The government has maintained regular dialogue with trade unions.
National unity and coordination are essential for the country’s progress.
This bandh, announced without due consideration for workers’ welfare, is nothing more than a manufactured protest.
Opposition for the sake of opposition is a misleading and counterproductive stance.
The Modi government remains firmly committed to the welfare of the working class.
India has now become the world’s fourth-largest economy. With the current policy direction, India is poised to emerge as the largest manufacturing hub globally.
As a result, millions of employment opportunities will be created in the near future, significantly reducing unemployment nationwide.
In this context, a bandh may create a perception of industrial unrest in India, which could negatively affect foreign investment.
In light of the above, I urge all workers not to support this politically motivated and baseless Bharat Bandh. Such actions do not serve the interests of the working class and may harm the nation's growth trajectory.
