*Tree Plantation Drive Strengthens Mumbai’s Green Cover in Aarey Colony Goregaon East*
In a strong push for environmental conservation, Ashish Social Foundation and Samvedana Foundation, in association with the NSS Team of St. Paul College for Women, successfully organized a _Tree Plantation Drive_ in Aarey Colony, Goregaon East.
The initiative brought together NGO volunteers, students, and local residents who planted native saplings across designated areas of Aarey’s green belt. The drive aimed to restore ecological balance, combat air pollution, and spread awareness about the importance of urban forestry in Mumbai.
Adding star power to the cause, Leader Abhijeet Rane ji was present at the initiative and participated alongside students and volunteers. Together, the team planted 500 seed balls of native species across the Aarey forest area
NSS volunteers from St. Paul College for Women led the on-ground efforts, demonstrating youth commitment to sustainability. Representatives from both foundations emphasized that protecting Aarey — often called Mumbai’s “green lung” — is critical for the city’s future.
“Every tree planted today is a step toward a cleaner, healthier Mumbai tomorrow,” said a volunteer coordinator. The team pledged to monitor the saplings and conduct follow-up drives to ensure high survival rates.
The event reflects a growing collaboration between educational institutions and social organizations to address climate change at the grassroots level.
